Behind My Shoulders ❖ Spring joy ❖ Day 7

Behind my shoulders ❖ Spring joy ❖ Day 7 ❖ Stage 8
Watercolor by Olga Peregood. Adding cold

I love to work on this painting so much. This painting is beautiful on each stage. I can stop on each stage and say this painting is done. I fascinated how each stage changed the whole painting. I have 8 stages and there are 8 different paintings!

Behind my shoulders ❖ Spring joy ❖ Day 7 ❖ Stage 8
Watercolor by Olga Peregood. Adding cold

Look at stage 8.  Cold blues and greens at the background  created more drama on the composition. Now attention on light buttons become even higher. On this painting I think about how can I sell it as I love it so much!  As a viewer you enjoy final piece. As an artist you enjoy the whole process from the beginning! When I look at my painting I enjoy final result and I enjoy sweet memories during it`s developing.

It is so wonderful to be an artist!

Thank you for being part of this. I am so glad to share my "Behind My Shoulders" topic with you on my blog!

Behind My Shoulders

Is favorite topic on my blog where I am sharing how I paint in real timeline and in real stages in process.

In "Behind My Shoulders" I am painting just for myself. Not for demonstrations, tutorials, not for my paintings to be sold, where I haven't limits in time, deadlines, exhibition dates, etc. There truly I am painting.

In my studio I usually have 10-20 paintings in developing process. Usually I am working on several from them at one session. For "Behind My Shoulders" in blog I publish just one painting on purpose. So my readers might follow me and figure out how the painting develops in real timeline in stages.

On my tutorials you can see how painting magically appears just in 30 minutes! I don`t want to deceive my viewers as for filming process I should speed up, also film goes through editing process with cutting.

What to start with?

3 floral watercolor painting tutorials by Olga Peregood
I often recommend my floral painting tutorials for beginners when they ask me which tutorial to choose to start with.

I started from flowers when I was beginner in watercolor. I started from flowers when I begin to make tutorials.

Because flowers is so beautiful and easy to paint in watercolor. It`s so easy to get upset about your result when you just start to approach watercolor.  So I make my tutorials as easy as possible to make a room for fun and pleasure while painting.

Frames from video "Pop Up! Carnations" watercolor painting tutorial

Watercolor is so beautiful medium just in process when colors are wet. Watercolor is so interesting medium. When colors begin to dry you see these amazing watermarks and new color combinations are forming in front of you.

Frame from video "Escaping Winter. Roses" watercolor painting tutorial

There are so much to learn in watercolor. I paint almost every day and each session brings me new ideas where to implement new discoveries.

So my answer on common question is flowers.
In every tutorial I talk about materials I use as well.

How much I grow as an artist

This year original geocints watercolors by Olga Peregood in process.

I store my paintings. It is takes not so much space, isn`t it?

Today I was revising and sorting my boxes filled with my watercolor paintings. I catch my eyes on geocint paintings which were painted 3 years ago.

And immediately feel warm and pleasant emotions as I saw how much I grow since then. This geocints shows where I was started from and where am I right now.

Next thought makes me enthusiastic even more: imagining what geocints will be after the next 3 years!

What next?

HD Video watercolor painting tutorial "Coming Closer. Ducks"
Time is fly so fast! Last time when I was filming watercolor painting tutorial "Coming Closer. Ducks" a duck was sitting on eggs in the nest not so far from our pond. Today evening in our pond I saw a row of ducklings follow their mom.

When I painted ducks for my video watercolor painting tutorial "Coming Closer. Ducks" a duck attracted in my real life.

If it works for watercolor painting tutorial "Coming Closer. Ducks" I will be over the moon if it will work on my next tutorial. Because subject is amazing to meet it in real life then!

What subject for next tutorial is? No one knows what it will be, I even can`t let myself to place even a fragment of demonstrated painting. The title will be as secret as a subject.

I know cover is very important. Launching such a cover could be not successful. Whatever! "Guess what it is?" - is a title for my new painting tutorial and I am so happy with that! I am so happy to do whatever I want with my paintings, my art and my tutorials!

Right now only I know what it is. I am so so excited!

I smile each time I imagine your faces watching this tutorial and guessing what it is.

Behind my shoulders ❖ Spring joy ❖ Last Day 6?

Behind my shoulders ❖ Spring joy ❖ Day 6 ❖ Stage 7
Watercolor by Olga Peregood. Adding sky

Flower is needed more leaves. I am hearing my painting and can`t decide where to add them and how.

I switch my attention from leaves. Today I will add background on top. I like blue shadows. Painting still warm and sunny so I am not afraid of more blue on my painting.

Adding sky
I like strait lines from cling wrap. These lines and a cling wrap paint  a sun rays for me. I like them.

I still look at my painting very long time trying painting tell me where next leaves should be. I was rewarded for my patience and finally saw a tiny leave shyly hiding behind my flower.

Behind my shoulders ❖ Spring joy ❖ Day 6 ❖ Stage 7 and 8 Watercolor by Olga Peregood. Adding foliage
Almost there!
I made existing leave more stronger and shadow from it as well. From now my flower ready to jump from the paper!

My painting is near to be finished. Lovely feeling. Take it easy. Take it easy. I say to myself. At this stage it is so easy to ruin painting by overworking and by adding too much details. I know it very well.

When you feel the end almost there it brings you so much please so you can`t stop yourself. You can easily wake up and find out it is too late.

So as closer we are to the end the less brushstrokes we are adding.

"My lucky talisman"
Original turtle watercolor by Olga Peregood
I found that less is more. It is better to add a tiny brushstroke for one set and save the freshness of first wash than overworking follow your rush.

Seems like my turtle is the fastest animal! With watercolor turtle appears very quickly just with 2 layers. My first watercolor animal painting that was sold was a turtle. It was sold very quickly the next day it was painted.

As soon as my first painting of turtle leaving my studio I have to paint another one. My lucky talisman.

What to do in lucky days in watercolor

watercolor dogs puppy animals fur
Original dog watercolor by Olga Peregood. In process
I have such lucky days painting. When I see painting coming to life so easily it is SO HARD to let it be as it is, so hard to keep it simple. No I should do something!

It is time learning to STOP and to set priorities.

Is it better to think about what is the best for final piece or loose myself in continually overworking the favorite piece not worry about result?

Set a challenge

Original goose watercolor by Olga Peregood. In process before adding final detail - an eye
As an artists the most valuable time spending is simply painting for yourself.

It is hard to turn in to as there is "Coming Closer. Ducks" painting tutorial is coming and I  have a lot of other  things to do. But I should.
  • I made my discoveries that I show later in my tutorials during such sessions.
  • And I grow as an artist by little steps during such sessions as well.
  • I keep my enthusiasm and feel energized in everyday life by investing my time into such sessions.
  • I can`t even imaging how this everyday little pushes myself to paint influence on the whole journey!
Right now I have several goose watercolors laying everywhere in my studio.  This one is my favorite. I set a challenge to portray his shaking body after his bathing in a pond. My hands are shaking before I am going to add an eye and my goose will alive since then.

Purple Trilliums

Purple Trillium, Ontario
Purple Trilliums

I like my forest walks so much. Fresh air, birds songs, wild spring flowers. All of that makes me feel comfortable about life and prepare to busy day.

This is my second spring in Canada and there are still a lot of changes in every sphere of my life, stuff to learn, to fix, to adopt.

Keep doing HD tutorials each month is quite challenging, but I do.

I would like to do it more often, but you know how much it takes TIME and energy to organize, preparation, computer, etc.

And I want on each tutorial to do my best, to include best I have on such moment.

There are many new ideas about painting subjects, new tips and discoveries in watercolor for future tutorials.

There are  a lot of planning to figure out how to carry out all of that stuff.

This morning when I walked there are Trilliums begin to bloom. White trillium is our Ontario's floral emblem.

But near forest streams I notice there are Purple Trilliums.

They are not as numerous as the Great White Trillium and their flowers do not last as long what`s makes them even more attractive to paint!

For my dear followers` requirements that I need more #selfie

Once I start to make a painting watercolor tutorials I found after filming each was launched I have even more to share in the next one. I don't know why.

You push all you know into this. Instead feeling exhausted and squeezed I feel overwhelmed by continually coming new ideas in my mind.

  • I want to share what I have learned, and why I am so excited about watercolor.
  • I want to do this in a funny way and highlight those things that made me excited about watercolor when I was a beginner, things that keeps me go on in spite of upset and disorders beginners often have.
  • And most of all I want to share my passion and enthusiasm for that magical medium!
I am ready to work to cover all this stuff. So right now I am working on next painting tutorials and it will be a hole series of tutorials. Right now I am planning to figure out how to do it this summer 2015 for you. This summer going to be very hot!

First painting ❖ ❖ ❖ S O L D ❖ ❖ ❖

Original watercolor by Olga Peregood. SOLD

I just started this year making tutorials.

I recently received comments, questions about my painting art and feedback on tutorials and YT videos.

And this is my first painting SOLD.

Before I started I give myself a time not to ask many. When you really deep in that and not expect results just work and believe. When it sells some day you know it so wonderful feeling. And it is unexpected and such a celebration!

Anybody could start to become an artist at any age of life. When it happens and you sell your first painting. I can't describe this feeling I am overwhelmed right now. As artists the day we sold our first paining will never be forgotten.

Work, patience, practice, believe you can − dreams come true!

It's time say goodbye to my painting. I have so much pleasure by painting it. I hope it brings lovely emotions into its new home.

P.S. Next day another painting was sold as well!
